1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using SecretVault, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, you may not use the Service.

By creating an account, you represent that:
  • You are at least 13 years of age
  • You have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms
  • You will comply with all applicable laws

2. Service Description

SecretVault is a free, zero-knowledge secrets manager.
  • Your data is encrypted on your device using AES-256-GCM
  • Encryption keys are derived using PBKDF2-SHA256 with 600,000 iterations
  • We cannot access, read, or decrypt your vault contents
  • We cannot recover your master password or data

SecretVault is provided as a free service. We reserve the right to introduce paid features in the future, but existing free functionality will remain free.

3. Master Password Responsibility

Your master password is your sole responsibility. You acknowledge that:
  • Your master password is the only way to decrypt your vault data
  • We do not store your master password and cannot recover it
  • If you lose your master password, your vault data will be permanently inaccessible
  • We are not liable for data loss from a forgotten password
  • You should choose a strong, unique master password
  • You should not reuse your master password on any other service

4. Account Security

You are responsible for:
  • All activity under your account
  • Maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials
  • Logging out on shared or public devices
  • Reporting any security breaches immediately

5. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:
  • Use the Service for illegal activities
  • Attempt to breach, test, or circumvent security measures
  • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service
  • Use automated tools to scrape or access the Service
  • Store malicious content (malware, exploit code)
  • Share your account with others
  • Interfere with the Service's operation
Violations may result in immediate account termination.

6. Intellectual Property

The Service, including all source code, design, branding, and documentation, is the intellectual property of OpsTools. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works without written permission.

Your vault data remains your property. We claim no ownership of any data you store in SecretVault.

7. Service Availability

We strive for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. We may:
  • Perform scheduled maintenance (with advance notice)
  • Experience unplanned outages
  • Modify or discontinue features (with 30-day notice for material changes)
We are not liable for any losses resulting from service unavailability.

8. Limitation of Liability

The Service is provided "AS IS" without warranties of any kind. OpsTools is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages.

Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the Service (currently $0 as a free service).

9. Account Termination

By you: You may delete your account at any time. Upon deletion, all data is permanently removed within 30 days.

By us: We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with notice except in cases of severe violations. Upon termination, you may request your data within 30 days.

10. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. For material changes, we will notify you via email at least 30 days before changes take effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance.
